This circular route will allow you to explore a lesser-known part of the Champorcher territory. The Rosier area is unique due to its habitat and relatively "moderate" climate compared to the rest of the valley, thanks to the abundant sunshine throughout the year. You will visit two charming hamlets, Petit Rosier and Grand Rosier, the Sanctuary of Sant'Anna, and a unique natural environment, including forests, pastures, and alpine pastures.
First section: Petit Rosier – Col Arcomy (trail no. 13 and 12/11A)
After leaving your car in the Petit Rosier parking area, ascend through the hamlet via the mule track and turn left, passing to the right of the hamlet's chapel. Continue crossing the hamlet to the left until you reach the end of the houses. Then find trail no. 13. Follow the trail/mule track that passes to the right of a large pasture and then climbs steeply through the forest until you reach the Arcomy area. Climb to the left of the Arcomy pasture until you reach the left side of the newly built Arcomy pasture, being careful not to cross the pasture but staying on its upper boundary. Once near the newly constructed pasture, continue traversing across to the right until you reach the end of the pastures, near another pasture. To the right of this pasture, find the trail (fork at about 1810 meters above sea level) that will lead you through the forest to Col Arcomy (around 1950 meters above sea level).
Second section: Col Arcomy – Col Possauel - Grand Rosier – Petit Rosier (trail no. 2, 14, 13B, 14A, and 13A)
From Col Arcomy, find trail no. 2 on the right, which will lead you to Col Possauel (around 1833 meters above sea level). This section is very scenic and remains mostly on the ridge, offering unique panoramic views of the Champorcher Valley and the Lower Aosta Valley. Once at Col Possauel, find the trail on the right that descends towards the Champorcher/Rosier Valley. Descend the steep trail until you find the fork to the left for the Sanctuary of Sant'Anna/Col di Plan-Fenêtre (around 1710 meters above sea level). Leave the descending trail and take the left trail, which traverses the slope through the forest until you reach the Sanctuary of Sant'Anna. After visiting the sanctuary, continue on the trail, to the right of the church, leading to Col di Plan-Fenêtre (around 1695 meters above sea level). Then find the trail descending to the right and reach Grand Rosier hamlet via a forest and then a pasture. Visit the charming hamlet and reach the large asphalt parking area. It is recommended to return to Petit Rosier via the old mule track starting from the Grand Rosier parking area along a dirt road descending towards the pastures/gardens. Follow the farm road and then find the old mule track, which after a few hundred meters passes near a votive shrine. Continue on the mule track and pass by the old mill, then take the right fork that will lead you back to Petit Rosier.
Notes: Circular route of medium difficulty.
